Back from the dead (literally)

Sat May 16, 2009, 12:51 PM
It's been a while since I've been on this site. I'm back (for now). I've been in the hospital for about 3 weeks due to some health problems and sustained injuries. Any positive energy and prayers in my direction would be greatly appreciated right now. On a brighter note, I have some new deviations I'll be putting up this weekend. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer weather. :sun:

Thank you for your :+fav: on Dogma. =)
Sure. It's a great piece.

I'm back from the dead and thought I check in on you. How are you doing?

First, know that your words have power. Over your environment, the people you meet, friends and family, and most especially, over you. Then realize that you have power over your words.
Hey Arthur!

It's so good to hear from you. I've missed you :glomp:. I'm doing well, thank you for asking. But, more importantly, how've you been? How've you been healing?

The arm and shoulder are pretty much healed. I am now working on the self.

I think I had a small breakthrough on the dream front, maybe I can run it across you so you can tell me what you think.

A couple of years ago I had a dream where I thought I was waking and I jumped across the gutter and just decided not to land. I started to fly. Now I dream of flying all the time so I had to check to see if I was dreaming. After pinching and slapping myself I determined that I was actually awake and I was so excited that I had finally started flying in the real world. As I was rushing to a friends house to tell them the good news I woke up. I was so disappointed.
Well, last night I had a similar dream. Jumped, decided not to land, checked to see if I was dreaming, decided I wasn't and then woke up. But the difference was that I, while dreaming, remembered the previous dream.
I think perhaps that next time, if I can remember this while dreaming, that if I have to check if I am dreaming then I am (since it is never a question I have asked myself while awake). Then when I realize that I am dreaming I make the move toward lucid dreaming.

What do you think?

By the way, love the new ID picture!

Thank you!

I'm glad to hear you're doing much better.

Sounds like you've been experiencing lucid dreaming quite often. Lucid dreaming is simply the act of realizing that you're dreaming and the ability to take control of your dream. There's a term called "reality check" which refers to questioning your surroundings several times a day to check if you're actually awake, and as this becomes a habit for your subconscious, when you'll cross over into dream state, similarly you'll start questioning whether you're witnessing a dream or reality, and begin to look for clues, such as any discrepancies between what you know to be true/possible versus what you're witnessing. This enables you to quickly recognize when you're in a dream state and take control of your dream.

I've read stories of people even using lucid dreaming as a way to overcome various fears/self limitation or to prep themselves for a stressful event by recreating those situations in their dream and facing their fears.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this site to youbefore, but in case I haven't, it's [link] - it has excellent articles and forums on all things related to lucid dreaming, from how to induce a lucid dream to how to program it, so I think you may find some useful info there.

I occasionally have lucid dreams, though lately I've been more into astral projection and psionics. Are you familiar with these concepts? Btw, I wanted to ask you something related to energy work - I'll send you a note about it later.

Yes, I am familiar with the concepts. I will have to tell you my battery story and lost earring story sometime. I've had two experiences with astral projection. The first was during a ceremony to discover my power symbol, I became the symbol and went straight up into the sky. The second was one time when I was making love. At the time of the crescendo I knew that I could leave my body. I wanted to take her with (and somehow knew that I could) but she was frightened so neither one of us went.

Looking forward to your note.
